PRP Hair Therapy · Pearland / Houston, TX

PRP can be a useful part of a plan. It is not a substitute for a diagnosis.

Platelet-rich plasma uses a concentrated preparation derived from your own blood, injected into targeted areas of the scalp. It may be considered as part of a broader treatment plan for appropriately selected patients with certain types of hair thinning.

At Genesis Hair MD, PRP is offered only after we understand what is driving your hair loss — and we measure whether it is working rather than relying on impressions.

What PRP is

A regenerative option, prepared from your own blood

PRP is prepared by concentrating the platelet fraction of a small sample of your own blood. That preparation is then injected into targeted areas of the scalp as part of a planned course of treatment.

01

Assessment first

Physician examination and TrichoLAB imaging establish what type of hair loss is present and whether PRP is a reasonable part of the plan.

02

Blood draw

A small sample of your own blood is collected in the clinic.

03

Preparation

The sample is processed to concentrate the platelet-rich fraction.

04

Targeted injection

The preparation is injected into the scalp regions identified during your assessment.

PRP is typically delivered as a course of sessions rather than a single treatment, with the schedule individualized to your case and reviewed as we go.

Suitability

PRP is appropriate for some patients — and not for others

Being honest about that distinction is part of the service. Your assessment determines which group you are in.

May be considered when

  • Your diagnosis is consistent with a type of hair thinning where PRP may play a supporting role
  • You still have viable hair worth preserving and stimulating
  • You want to support a broader medical or surgical plan rather than replace it
  • You are willing to commit to a course of sessions and measured follow-up
  • You are planning transplantation and want to support the overall treatment strategy

May not be the right step when

  • The underlying cause of your hair loss has not yet been established
  • Findings suggest a condition better addressed by other medical treatment or further evaluation
  • Expectations are for results that PRP is unlikely to deliver on its own
  • A different intervention would deliver more benefit as the first step

PRP is not a substitute for establishing the correct diagnosis, and it is not a guaranteed outcome for any individual patient.

Measured, not guessed

How we assess whether it is working

Most clinics evaluate PRP by asking how you think it looks. We can do better than that.

This allows treatment discussions to include objective information rather than relying exclusively on visual impressions.

In context

Where PRP sits in the Genesis approach

PRP is one option among several. Your plan may involve one approach or a carefully planned combination.

Diagnose

Establish the cause

Clinical evaluation, TrichoLAB digital trichoscopy, donor assessment, and additional medical evaluation when appropriate.

Preserve

Protect existing hair

Physician-directed medical therapy and regenerative approaches, including PRP for appropriately selected patients.

Restore

Replace where appropriate

For suitable candidates, FUE and DHI techniques redistribute donor follicles to strategically restore areas of loss.

Maintain

Monitor and adapt

We monitor native and transplanted hair, reassess treatment response, and modify the strategy as your needs evolve.

Medical

Foundation therapy

Depending on circumstances, physician-supervised options may include minoxidil, finasteride, or other appropriately selected therapies.

Women

Female hair loss

Diffuse thinning can have multiple contributing causes. Treatment follows the diagnosis rather than a standardized package.

Physician-led care

Care led by a physician, from the first assessment.

Genesis Hair MD is led by Roger Olade, MD, MPH, Founder & Medical Director, a board-certified Internal Medicine physician with more than two decades of clinical and healthcare leadership experience.

The practice reflects his broader medical philosophy: understand the problem, measure what can be measured, preserve what can be preserved, and intervene thoughtfully.

About Genesis Hair MD →

Your first step

Start with a comprehensive hair assessment.

Before choosing a medication, injection, or surgery, understand what is happening to your hair. Your Genesis Hair assessment is designed to answer four questions:

  1. What type or pattern of hair loss appears to be occurring?
  2. Which existing hairs may still be worth preserving?
  3. If you are considering transplantation, what does your donor area appear capable of supporting?
  4. What treatment strategy makes sense now — and over the long term?

Your evaluation incorporates physician examination and can include TrichoLAB digital trichoscopy, objective baseline measurements, and additional diagnostic assessment when appropriate. No shaving is required for the initial TrichoLAB assessment.

Your information is handled confidentially. Our team will contact you to arrange the next appropriate step.

Common questions

PRP questions

What exactly is PRP?

Platelet-rich plasma uses a concentrated preparation derived from the patient's own blood, which is injected into targeted areas of the scalp. It may be considered as part of a broader treatment plan for appropriately selected patients with certain types of hair thinning.

Will PRP regrow my hair?

PRP is considered a supporting option rather than a guaranteed treatment, and responses vary between individuals. It is not a substitute for establishing the correct diagnosis. Whether it is appropriate for you, and what it may realistically contribute, is discussed after your assessment.

How many sessions will I need?

PRP is typically delivered as a course rather than a single session. The schedule is individualized based on your diagnosis, the areas being treated, and your response over time, which we assess with follow-up measurement.

Can PRP be combined with other treatments?

Yes. For many patients PRP is considered alongside physician-directed medical therapy, and it may also form part of a broader strategy for patients who are planning or have undergone transplantation.

Do I need an assessment before PRP?

Yes. We do not treat hair loss before understanding it. Your assessment establishes the type and pattern of loss, whether viable hair is present to support, and whether PRP is a reasonable part of your plan.

How will I know if it is working?

Baseline TrichoLAB measurements are taken before treatment, and standardized imaging can be repeated at follow-up. Comparing parameters such as density and thickness over time gives an objective view alongside the clinical examination.

What does PRP cost?

Cost depends on the treatment plan and the number of sessions involved. After your assessment we can provide a written recommendation and transparent pricing appropriate to your case.
